For my detailed Singer 4452 review as well as a breakdown of all its most important features, head on down below.

The Most Crucial Features of the Singer 4452 Sewing Machine

While this machine is loaded with a ton of great features, not all of them are equally important. I’ll break down some of the most crucial ones for you and explain what they are.

32 Built-in Stitches

While this might not seem like a lot of choices, since some machines boast hundreds of built-in stitches, I think it’s more than enough. What’s included are 6 basic stitches, 7 stretch stitches, 18 decorative ones, and 1 fully automatic 1-step buttonhole stitch.

High Sewing Speed

With a sewing speed of 1100 stitches per minute, this machine is easily comparable to industrial-grade machines. The speed is adjustable too so you can get it to go slower if that’s what you need for certain projects.

Built-in Needle Threader

A threading path is printed on the machine and following it will allow you to easily thread the needle. You won’t need to strain your eyes or spend a lot of time trying to hit the small hole.

Adjustable Stitch Length and Width

You can adjust certain stitches – like satin and decorative stitches – to be up to 6mm wide. This allows you to make each project unique and gives you a lot more versatility with your stitches.

Additional Sewing Feet

You get some good, functional sewing feet with this machine. Two of the best are an even feed/walking foot, which helps you go through multiple layers of fabric, while the other is a non-stick foot designed to be used for materials like vinyl.

Besides that, you also get one all-purpose foot, a zipper foot, a button sewing foot, and a buttonhole foot.

Lots of Good Accessories

Included with the machine are a lot of good, functional accessories. You get a seam ripper, a lint brush, a set of 16 5-size needles, a quilting guide, a clearance plate, one auxiliary spool pin, a spool pin felt, a dust cover, bobbins, and a screwdriver, all located in the built-in storage compartment.

The Other Features of the Singer 4452

While those are the most important features, they’re not everything this machine has up its sleeve. Check out what else it can offer:

  • Detachable foot controller
  • Removable free arm
  • LED light for the work area
  • Thread-cutting razor
  • Top drop-in bobbin system
  • Drop feed lever
  • Three needle positions
  • Reverse lever
  • Clearance plate
  • 30-day manufacturer’s warranty

My Full Singer 4452 Heavy Duty Sewing Machine Review

The first two things I noticed about this machine are its strength and speed. It’s strong enough to cut through multiple layers of fabric with ease while also being incredibly fast, and it definitely doesn’t waste your time.

You can also control the speed by using the control paddle though that can be a bit difficult if you’re a beginner. It’s fairly sensitive so even a light press might make it go too fast if you’re not careful.

However, no matter the speed, this truly is a heavy-duty sewing machine. Using it to sew things like denim or vinyl is no problem, and you can even do quilting with it if you want. The thicker fabric is no problem either.

This is more than a little bit surprising, considering the relatively small size of the machine. But the weight gives it away – it has a sturdy metal construction and a strong, robust motor inside that small exterior.

Despite the strength, it also works fairly quietly, and there’s no shaking at all. It’s a relief to see a machine that performs this well.

But, strength is not the only strong point of this machine – it’s versatile as well. It comes with 32 built-in stitches which can be used for a lot of different purposes, and it comes with a total of 6 different sewing feet included.

It also comes with a lot of useful accessories even though the machine costs next to nothing. All of the accessories come packed into the built-in storage compartment, which you can use to store all of your gear.

The machine also has a removable free arm, allowing you to adjust it for sewing things like pants, legs, and sleeves.

Using the machine is fairly easy, and it has a few nice quality-of-life features. The built-in needle threader allows you to easily thread the needle, the reverse lever lets you easily reinforce stitches, there’s a built-in thread cutting razor and the drop-in bobbin system is great since it lets you check the remaining thread.

You’ll need to do that a lot since this machine can’t take a lot of thread and if you’re doing larger projects, you’re going to feel it. The speediness of the machine only makes this issue worse.

Other features you get include a light for making the work area brighter, the ability to adjust the needle in three different positions, and more.

Overall, it’s just a great machine loaded with good features, and it’s more versatile than I expected. It’s great for people of all skill levels that need something a bit stronger than average at a price that won’t put a hole in your wallet.

However, do watch out – you don’t get a good warranty with it. You can return it within 30 days, but that’s a hassle, and after that, you’re not covered for anything that happens to it. It is durable though, so that shouldn’t be too much a problem but it never hurts to be a bit more careful.

The Pros and Cons of the Singer 4452 Sewing Machine

So, to sum it all up here’s everything that’s good and bad about the Singer 4452:

Pros

  • Highly affordable for the quality it offers
  • Built-in storage compartment
  • Lots of great accessories
  • Works quickly and it’s strong
  • LED light for the work area
  • Durable with a strong metal frame
  • Relatively small and portable
  • Easy to use for anyone

Cons

  • It can’t take larger spools of thread
  • The paddle is a bit too sensitive and hard to control
  • It doesn’t come with a good warranty

The Final Word

So, with all this said, what’s my final verdict on the Singer 4452? Is it worth buying?

Well, this is just my opinion, but I’d say that it is. It’s strong, fast, reliable, and durable – just like you would expect a Singer sewing machine to be. It’s definitely a heavy-duty machine as advertised, and it’s also incredibly versatile.

You can do a lot of with it no matter which skill level you’re at and the price is highly affordable, so I’d say that it’s more than worth buying.

What do you think? Is it the right one for you? Do you have any additional questions? Post everything in the comments, both your opinions and questions, and I’ll get to them as soon as possible. I just love hearing from you.

Until next time – good luck sewing!

    1. Dear Patricia,

      Thank you for your comment.

For starters, some people think that only 5532 comes with a clear cover for the top drop-in bobbin. But this isn’t true. The Singer 4452 also includes a clear cover for the bobbin.

Both units come in the same colour and have 32 built-in stitches. And they also sew up to 1,000 stitches per minute. The motor in both machines is a beast. They’re both equally powerful.

Other common features include stainless steel bedplate, automatic needle threader, heavy-duty metal frame, free arm, on-board storage, 3 needle positions, and so on.

      What’s different about these machines?

You get different accessories. 4452 comes with extra accessories which include a non-stick foot, walking foot, heavy-duty needles (size 13), and clearance plate.

Other accessories remain the same such as bobbins, quilting guide, lint brush, seam ripper, various types of feet, soft-sided dust cover, user manual, and so on.

As you can notice, they’re both very similar but 4452 comes with extra accessories. Hopefully, my review can help you choose the right sewing machine for you.

In my opinion, they will be back in stock after this crisis. Please, follow my page for updates. I will inform you when they’re back in stock!

Have a wonderful day and stay safe.

      Love, Mary.

    1. Dear Mary,

Thank you for your comment and for trusting my opinion.

This machine makes nice and easy buttonholes. However, you have to be careful in making a buttonhole because it doesn’t stop automatically when the buttonhole is done.

You need to pay attention as it is coming around and finish. It’s not a big deal but keep this in mind. Also, I recommend watching videos on how to do it right if you’re not a fan of manuals.

The auto buttonhole on this sewing machine works amazingly even though some buyers say that they’re not satisfied with the outcome. They’re disappointed because it comes out uneven.

However, keep in mind that not everyone has the same skills and knowledge. This might be due to users’ poor skils. Overall, it’s a great sewing machine suitable for different projects.

Hopefully, my short insight can help you determine if this machine responds to your needs.

Have a wonderful day and stay safe.

      Love, Mary.

  1. I’m having trouble finding some of the sewing machines you recommend for beginners as they seem to be out of stock – how does this compare to the Singer 4423 you have reviewed as being great for beginners?

    thanks!

    1. Dear HK,

      Thank you for your comment.

It’s devastating times and most of the machines seem to be out of stock, including this one.

However, the one you mentioned, Singer 4423, is also a good machine for beginners. I’ve reviewed this machine a few times. I also have a dedicated review you can read.

It’s perfect for both beginners and professionals. Loaded with 23 built-in stitches of different kinds, this machine is suitable for both basic and heavy-duty sewing projects.

The maximum sewing speed is 1,1000 stitches per minute. It’s a durable and stable machine with a solid stainless steel bed frame and metal interior frame.

However, the instructions included can be hard to understand. This is not that big of a problem because you can find YouTube tutorials on how to use the machine.

The only biggest difference between these models is the number of stitches. Hopefully, my short review can help you select the right sewing machine for you.

Have a wonderful day and stay safe.

      Love, Mary.

  2. I need a sewing machine that will sew light to medium weight leather. I just bought this machine and hope it can do the job. If not, I’ll return it and look for something else.

    1. Dear Linda,

      Thank you for your comment.

I can tell you from experience that this model by Singer is capable of cutting leather. It is a heavy-duty, fast and strong sewing machine with lots of accessories, additional sewing feet, and other nice features.

After you try it out, please share your experience in the comments. Happy sewing and have a nice day.

      Love, Mary.

    1. Mary Janes and Galoshes

Hi Fola, and thank you for your comment!

The machine actually comes with a 30-day return period, but Singer’s standard 25/2/90 warranty terms still cover the different parts of the sewing machine. I’ve edited the post and updated the warranty info accordingly, so be sure to check it out.

I am sorry if our poor wording caused any confusion, and I hope that this clears things up!
