The Top Features of the Janome 8077 Sewing Machine

Janome 8077 sewing machine has become famous for its ease of use, and it is all thanks to an array of useful features it offers to its users. Some of the most beneficial features are the following:

30 Built-In Stitches

You might think that 30 built-in stitches this machine has are insufficient, but in reality, they are quite enough for most average users. Moreover, at this price, you can hardly do much better. If you wish for hundreds of built-in stitches, you have to pay hundreds of dollars more too.

Besides the utility and garment construction stitches, Janome 8077 also provides you with a couple of decorative satin and quilting stitches that will enable you to express your creativity.

It is easy to select your stitch as well- simply choose the number that corresponds to the stitch you wish to use and then set the length and the width you want by pressing the “mode key,” and pushing the “plus” or “minus” button to increase or decrease its size. Your stitch can be up to 7 millimeters wide and 5 millimeters long.

6 One-Step Buttonholes

Janome 8077 comes with six one-step buttonholes of different size so that you can always find the appropriate one for your garment. What types of buttonholes are there?

  • Square Buttonhole (stitch number 16)
  • Round-End Buttonhole (stitch number 17)
  • Keyhole Buttonhole (stitch number 18)
  • Stretch Buttonhole (stitch number 19).
  • Knit Buttonhole (stitch number 20)
  • Antique Buttonhole (stitch number 21).

Square buttonhole and the keyhole buttonhole are more appropriate for medium and heavyweight fabrics such as denim or faux leather, while round end buttonholes should ideally be used for delicate fabric and kids garments.

Free Arm

Janome 8077 features a free arm, and that’s good news. Why? Well, free arm makes the life of a sewist much easier. Thanks to this super important feature you will be sewing sleeves and pants hems with ease and in less time

Jam-Proof Bobbin System

As we are already mentioning the time-saving features, we have to say a word or two about the Janome 8077 bobbin system. The first words that come to my mind are: It’s excellent!

No matter how experienced you are, you will surely appreciate the fact that you will not have to deal with the material jamming up in your sewing machine as that cannot but cause a major headache. The jam resistant bobbin of the Janome 8077 means that you will never have to unclog your fabric from the machine again. The auto-declutch bobbin winder is there to save your time and your nerves as well!

Moreover, the Janome 8077 sewing machine comes with a transparent bobbin cover. Why is this a good thing? Well, it allows you to see how much thread there is left so that you never run out of thread in the middle of an otherwise perfect stitch.

The Rest of the Janome 8077 Features

Besides the already mentioned features, the Janome 8077 also offers:

  • Built-in needle threader
  • Snap-on presser feet (Satin Stitch Foot, Sliding Buttonhole Foot, Zig-Zag Foot)
  • Extra high presser foot lift
  • Memorized needle up/down
  • Superior Feed System (SFS)
  • 7-piece feed dog
  • Drop feed
  • Speed control slider
  • Locking stitch button
  • Easy reverse button
  • Backlit LED screen
  • Easy navigation keys
  • 25-year warranty

My Complete Janome 8077 Review

Visually, although computerized, Janome 8077 sewing machine resembles the classic mechanical models. In the era of vintage fashion that can be a great design plus.

As far as the performance is concerned, it is not the best out there, but it is certainly far from the worst too. It is, to be honest, the middle-class machine.

Janome 8077 is easy to use thanks to its simplicity. Everything is well labeled, the instructions are clear and concise, and automized features do most of the job for you. The bright working light allows you to sew well into the night if you feel like it too.

Stitch selection is a breeze as well. Each stitch is labeled with the required presser foot, and everything is neatly printed out on the machine. The stitches are long and straight but, unfortunately, a bit loose. You can set the needle stop position to your liking. I personally prefer the up position.

The Janome 8077 has automatic stitching, and the speed can be controlled by the help of the sliding switch. Regrettably, the thread cutter is not automatic. Instead, there is a manual thread cutter that is located on the back of this sewing machine

On the bright side, the needle threader is automatic, so there is no need for you to strain your eyes trying to fit the thin thread into the needle. How does this automatic needle threader work? It is quite simple- all you need to do is pull it down, place the hook, and then pass it in front of the needle. Finally, pull it back, and your needle will be threaded- it feels almost like magic!

There is more good news for you! Namely, Janome 8077 has an automatic bobbin winder as well. Once the bobbin winder is pushed to the right, the needle will be stopped by the auto-declutch mechanism. The bobbin will start winding and stop when it is full- you don’t have to do a thing!

Janome 8077 comes with four bobbins, and thus you can load four different colors of the thread or even four different types of thread. There is no need to manually unwind the bobbins when you want to reuse them either.

With a bit of an effort, you can find this machine at a reasonable price. Although there are many better machines out there, I still must admit that Janome 8077 does a great job with not much of a learning curve which can be an excellent plus for newbies.

Conclusion

I cannot lie and say that Janome is a high-end machine packed with features when it is clearly not. Instead, it is a mediocre sewing machine in every sense of that word. It boasts an average performance and has an average price too. I think that is fair, don’t you agree?

After all, Janome 8077 is a reliable machine made by a renowned company and backed up with 25 years of warranty. It has all the primary stitch option for an average user and, most importantly, it runs smoothly and never jams!

I would recommend this machine to beginner sewists as it has no bells and whistles that would confuse them. Janome 8077 is a great machine to get started and enter the magical world of sewing!
