Are Necchi Sewing Machines Any Good?
Necchi has existed on the market for almost a decade. It is known for its user-friendly, affordable, and highly-efficient sewing machines. Necchi’s sewing units are built to last.
Over the years, Necchi has developed computerized sewing units. You can choose between mechanical and computerized sewing machines, according to your preferences.
You may be wondering, why should I buy a Necchi sewing machine? There are a few reasons to choose a Necchi sewing machine such as the following:
- Affordability
- Reliability
- Great sewing experience
- 25-year limited warranty
- Plenty of impressive features
- A trusted brand
Where to Buy Necchi Sewing Machine?
You can buy a Necchi sewing machine at Amazon and local stores. Just skim through my product reviews and choose the model that meets your requirements and needs.
How to Choose the Right Necchi Sewing Machine?
The greatest sewing machine for you may not be the greatest for the next customer.
There are multiple features you need to pay attention to when buying a Necchi sewing machine for you such as the following:
Number of Stitches
Different Necchi sewing units provide a different number of stitches. If you want to have various stitches to choose from, make sure to buy a machine with a lot of built-in stitches.
Warranty
Almost every sewing machine by this brand comes with a 25-year limited warranty. However, make sure to check the warranty at Amazon or your local store before you purchase, just in case.
Power
Pay attention to the stitching power of a sewing machine before you buy it.
No matter if you’re buying a heavy-duty sewing unit or something lighter, the power is important since it determines the stitching speed. Always pick a sewing machine with a great stitching speed.
Stitches Adjustability
As your fabric becomes stronger and complex, the stitches need to be wider and longer. Make sure that the unit you choose has adjustable stitch width and length.
Often, the longer the stitch turns, the easier the needle can pass through. Also, the tighter the stitch will be. Most Necchi machines come with adjustable stitches.
Needle Threader
Some Necchi sewing machines feature an automatic needle threader and some don’t. Usually, units with an automatic needle threader cost more.
If you’re not on a budget, I kindly recommend that you pick a sewing machine with an automatic needle threader that will save you time while working.
Accessories
Almost every Necchi sewing unit comes with a bunch of accessories such as LED lights, detachable arms, extensive tables, automatic features, and so on.
Make sure that the model you choose has some of these features if you want to enjoy a careless, simple, and fun sewing experience.
Construction
Last but not least, make sure that the sewing machine you choose is built for both basic and heavy-duty projects. This means that you should pick a unit with a metal frame.
If you own a Necchi sewing machine, join this Facebook group to exchange thoughts and tips with other owners of Necchi sewing machines.
How to Repair a Necchi Sewing Machine?
Necchi makes rotary-hook, mechanical sewing machines.
This means that maintenance and troubleshooting should be easy. Instead of taking your machine to the closest repair shop, try to solve the issue yourself.
All you need is a basic toolkit including 2 flat-head small screwdrivers, tweezers, sewing machine oil, and cleaning rags. The rest of the process, you can read below.
Check The Threading
Incorrect threading is what causes most issues with sewing machines. Unthread your machine entirely. Make sure that your thread is strong and in good shape.
A bent needle or wrongly-placed needle can also cause issues. Rethread your sewing unit, referring to your manual for a threading diagram. Remove your bobbin and replace it.
Threading issues cause skipped stitches, incorrect stitch formation, and thread breaks.
Check Your Settings
Stitch width, stitch length, and tension are all controlled by dials on the front of your Necchi unit.
Adjusting just one of them the wrong way can cause major sewing problems. If your stitch length is set to zero, your unit will not feed the material.
Incorrect tension will cause poor stitch quality, looping threads or puckering. When fixing your sewing machine, use a basic straight stitch to make it simpler to fix your settings.
If your sewing machine is still having issues, take it to the nearest repair shop.
Keep in mind that rattling, banging or clanking are pointers of serious issues. If the cord is damaged, the motor falls or the control dials stop functioning, contact a professional.
How to Oil Necchi Sewing Machine?
Remove the needle plate, presser foot, and needle. Take off the bobbin base, in case there is one.
Use a small brush and tweezers to clean this part of your sewing machine thoroughly. Inspect your unit to determine where to oil. Most instructions don’t provide enough oiling information.
Expect to locate 1-3 holes for oil at the top of your unit depending upon the model. There is supposed to be a hole for oil close to the bobbin assembly.
How to Use a Necchi Sewing Machine?
Thread your unit following the bolts, starting the thread from the spool via the unit and down the front, circling the string through the needle guide at the highest point of the piece lodging the needle.
Thread the needle from left to right and pull the parts of the thread under the presser foot and to the back.
Set a full bobbin in the case and pull the finish of the thread into space on the edge of the bobbin case until around four inches of thread slack is leaving the side of the metal bobbin case.
Hold the case by the handle and supplement it into space beneath the needle, uncovered by sliding the bobbin plate spread to one side.
Slide the bobbin plate spread to one side to close the bobbin case region.
Hold the finish of the string reaching out from the needle and top of the unit. After, point turn the wheel on the unit clockwise, slowly bringing down the needle beneath the plate spread at that point ascending once more.
The string toward the finish of the needle will have circled the string from the bobbin and brought it up over the presser foot.
Pull the bobbin string the remainder of the exit plan, and line up the parts of the bargains, pulling them under the presser foot and toward the back of your unit.
Spot a bit of material underneath the presser foot, however over the slide plate. Lower the presser foot, guarding the material securely.
Push on the foot pedal, gently. The unit will lower and raise the needle, making stitches in the fabric.
Permit your unit to run for a moment, setting multiple stitches in succession, at that point, whenever wanted, press the switch to turn around the sewing, backing over those underlying join to strengthen the string.
Release the reverse switch and proceed over the sewing and past it to sew the texture. Rehash the turn around then forward sewing toward the conclusion to fortify the string once more.
Raise the presser foot and cut the parts of the thread, discharging the fabric from the unit. This method can be continued by utilizing elective sewing alternatives.
For example, changing the machine to make a zigzag stitch with the modification of the stitch controls, situated on the front or lower-right of the machine, contingent upon the model.
How to Thread Necchi Sewing Machine?
If you bought a Necchi sewing machine without instructions or lost your manual, you might experience some issues threading your machine.
However, don’t worry because a Necchi sewing machine is easy to thread, no matter the model number. Follow these steps and you will do just fine.
You will need a spool of thread and a threaded bobbin.
Step 1:
Raise the presser foot and set the needle in the highest position.
Move it by turning the knob on the one side of your unit toward you. Open the bobbin holder part under the needle. Insert the bobbin.
Step 2:
Put the spool of thread on the holder on the top of your unit. The holder is a plastic or metal rod located on the right side at the top. Grab the loose end of your thread and pull it to the left.
Step 3:
Wind your thread via the thread guides (usually 4-5 thread guides). However, their number and position depend upon your model number.
Step 4:
Thread your needle from front to back. Pull the thread 2-3 inches to ensure a smoother pass through the guides. Be sure the thread is pulled underneath the presser foot and to the back.
Step 5:
Grab the end of your thread. Spin the knob on the left side until your needle goes all the way down and up again.
Always spin toward you. Otherwise, you could damage the needle. When your needle raises, it will raise the bobbin thread. Pull both threads to the back of your unit.
Necchi Sewing Machine How to Load a Bobbin?
Introduce a threaded bobbin in the base under the feed dogs. Your Necchi has a chamber underneath the feed dogs where you can put a full bobbin.
Open the chamber and bobbin case underneath the needle, embed the bobbin into the case, pull out 10cm of thread, and afterward put the bobbin into the case. Close the chamber and the case.
Ensure that the needle is in its highest position to make it simpler to place the bobbin into the chamber.
Pull the finish of the top thread and keep it. After you have wrapped up the bobbin, handle the finish of the top thread with your left hand.
This thread should as of now be through the eye of the needle, but in case it is not, thread your needle and continue clutching the thread after you lead it through the eye.
Turn the wheel on your unit a couple of times. To interface the top and base thread strands, turn it on the right side of your unit with your right hand.
Do this a couple of times to associate the strands and the base thread should now be visible.
In the event that the threads are not associating, you may need to adjust the pressure on your machine. Turn the dial to fix the pressure by 1 or 2 scores and check whether that makes a difference.
Necchi vs Brother
Brother is one of the most popular sewing brands in the USA. However, Brother machines are not made in the USA. They’re made in Japan because this is a Japanese company.
However, this doesn’t influence the quality and performance of their machines. In fact, they make some of the best sewing and embroidery machines on the market.
Brother is known for its reasonable prices, excellent entry-level machines, and performance.
However, some people dislike the fact that some of their machines have plastic parts. This makes them portable and lightweight. However, it also makes them less durable.
Necchi sewing machines, on the other hand, have a metal frame. They’re built to last. This brand is also known for its affordability, high-quality sewing machines, and great sewing speed.
The quality and performance that both brands have to offer are similar.
Necchi vs Singer
If you’re looking for decent sewing machines with lots of built-in stitches and a 25-year limited warranty, look no further than the Singer brand.
It played a big role in the early development of the sewing units in the 1950s. Today, it is owned by SVP Worldwide. This company also owns Pfaff and Husqvarna Viking.
What I have to say about this brand is that their older units have a reputation for quality and excellent build. It is good to know that Vintage Singer sewing machines are still sought.
However, the modern models by this brand don’t have the same reputation. Customers claim that their new models tend to be of lower quality.
Necchi sewing machines, on the other hand, have a metal frame. They’re built to last. This brand is also known for its affordability, high-quality sewing machines, and great sewing speed.
This brand has existed on the market for almost a century.
Necchi vs Janome
Janome is another Japanese brand with a rich and long history. Their machines were labeled New Home in the USA market for many years.
You can also find Janome machines under the Juki, Elna, or Necchi nameplates. They make the simplest and greatest sewing machines in the world. However, their main focus is on technology.
Necchi is also a popular brand that has been in the sewing industry for almost a century.
Necchi sewing units have a metal frame which means that they’re built to last. This brand is also known for its affordability, high-quality sewing machines, and great sewing speed.
Necchi vs Juki
Juke represents an industrial sewing machine company. It has recently introduced household units into the United States. Juki is not widely known but they offer valuable machines.
They make sergers, sewing machines, semi-commercial straight stitch machines, quilting machines, and so on. Juki machines make a great choice for people who want to start a business.
Necchi, on the other hand, has been in the sewing industry for almost a century.
Necchi sewing units have a metal frame which means that they’re built to last. This brand is also known for its affordability, high-quality sewing machines, and great sewing speed.
Necchi vs Bernina
Bernina is a Swiss company. It is good to know that it is the only family-owned brand left on the market. They still make a limited number of units in Switzerland.
However, most of their units are now produced in their solely operated and owned firms in the far east. They’re known for their all-steel front loading bobbin system.
Bernina machines offer durability and advanced features like their over-sized bobbins, built-in dual feed, and their popular Bernina Stitch Regulator for free motion quilting.
Necchi, on the other hand, has been in the sewing industry for almost a century.
Necchi sewing units have a metal frame which means that they’re built to last. This brand is also known for its affordability, high-quality sewing machines, and great sewing speed.
Necchi vs Pfaff
Pfaff is a German brand founded in 1862 and like Husqvarna Viking and Singer, today, it is owned by SPV worldwide. They also have original innovations like Bernina.
Their most famous innovation is the Integrated Dual Feed technology system which is a walking foot into the machine. It can be used with different types of presser feet.
This is why most quilters prefer Pfaff over other brands. Their machines can deal with multiple layers of thick fabrics. However, they’re not suitable for beginners.
Necchi, on the other hand, has been in the sewing industry for almost a century.
Necchi sewing units have a metal frame which means that they’re built to last. This brand is also known for its affordability, high-quality sewing machines, and great sewing speed.
Necchi vs Husqvarna Viking
Known as Viking in the United States, this brand started making sewing machines in 1872.
It was known as a manufacturer of Swedish armaments. Parts of the firm are still associated with heavy types of machinery like chainsaws and motorbikes.
However, they also have impressive sewing machines loved by many customers because of their quality and build. Today, this company is also owned by SPV Worldwide.

I have a Necchi Lydia 544 sewing machine. I have had it for the past 50 years and I have used it constantly. For the last few years due to my ill health I have not used it. I have oiled and cleaned it. the motor runs freely but does not engage the belt, hence the wheel remains still without moving. The machine has remained idle for a number of years.
I am in New Delhi India. Can you give me an address of someone who can service the machine in india..
I will be grateful. My e-mail is; jlomefm1970@gmail.com.
