How to Clean Baby Lock Sewing Machine?

The first step to clean your Babylock machine is removing the slide plate, bobbin holder, and unscrew backplate. Next, use a brush to remove all the thread fuzz and dust particles.

• Stretch fabrics require ballpoint needles
• The smaller the needle number, the smaller the needle and vice versa
• Heavier fabrics like puffy foams and denim require a 90/14 needle
• 90/11 ballpoint needles are not meant for embroidery

• A new needle with sewn over pins can have a nick that can lead to breakage. Special threads have specialty needles with bigger paths.

If your thread still breaks, clean your sewing machine thoroughly. Remove all the dust and lint from the bobbin area and tension disks.

Put your fingers across the path traveled by a thread and run them across the way searching for debris or loose fabric that could lead to breakage.

Make sure that your sewing machine is turned off by removing its plug from the floor or wall socket or switching its power switch.

Step 2

Put the needle in the unit’s needle holder. Raise it to its highest point by slowly turning the handwheel in a clockwise direction.

Step 3

Lift the presser foot and put the spool of thread on the vertical or horizontal spool pin depending on your model. If you have a horizontal spool pin, make sure to fit the spool cap in place.

Otherwise, the thread could tangle during work or come loose.

Step 4

Determine the different threading points on the top of the unit’s exterior. Pass the thread through them before putting it down toward the tension mechanism.

Step 5

Pull down a couple of inches of thread. Lead it through the tension mechanism, take-up lever, and thread guide situated above the needle.
