59 cent shoe makeover!

We have the best consignment store in town.  It's the best because they are dirt cheap!  I picked up these cuties for 59 cents!
They are just the perfect fit for Nadia and just in time for spring.  The patten on them was cute, but the toes were pretty warn down and for the steal I got them for I decided to experiment a bit.  Here is what I turned them into.

Aren't they cute and sparkly!  My husband refers to them as the Wizard of Oz shoes.  The best part? They don't leave a spec of glitter behind on the floor, I know, your saying yeah right, I'm serious people.  I'll tell you what I did.

You will need-
White glue
Fabric paint
Paint brush
Glitter
1 long zipper
Clear spray paint

First I removed the bows, which actually came off much easier and cleaner than I expected.
I use plain old puffy paint fabric paint with a brush (if you brush it on it isn't puffy).  Put a couple layers on as a base in case you have any sparse glitter areas.
Once dry use a paint bush again to put a thin layer of white glue in small sections at a time and apply glitter liberally.  Let it sit for a few seconds then shake off the extra and put it back in your jar.  Once all covered, shove a plastic bag into the shoe to protect the inside.  Take them outside and spray a liberal coat of clear spray paint.  This will keep you them from shedding glitter everywhere and does not dull the glitter as some other methods do.

For the zipper ruffles I used this tutorial from Craftaholics Anonymous.
